Use your connections
This seems like a really basic one but let me tell you – even if you change where you work on your Facebook it doesn’t mean everyone knows what you are doing. I usually don’t post about my business on my personal Facebook page because well it’s personal. I thought I was doing enough by updating my About section, but recently I had a friend I met online contact me to discuss a redesign. The first thing she said was I didn’t know you had your own business.
The point is – learn from what I didn’t do – tell your connections what your new venture is. You maybe want to post regularly but not daily about your business. I started posting about working at home with my boys lately so I’m not completely doing something out of the ordinary. I wouldn’t go from barely posting to a daily post about your business – that likely wouldn’t be received well.
Get on a podcast
I recorded my very first podcast the first year I was in business. I was so excited and immediately ready to do another. I was a listener so I went to the website and saw that she had a place to apply to be a guest. I was approved. First, make sure you find podcasts that your ideal clients may be listening to. Next, find out how to be a guest on that show. If they don’t approve you for that show then consider starting with a smaller podcast and moving up.
Just like most things – you have to work your way to the top although that shouldn’t discourage you from trying to go straight to the top.
Alternatively you could sign up for the mailing list on RadioGuestList.com to receive notifications about shows looking for guests. Also, I’ve been compiling a list of people looking for guests. You can find the Podcast Guest list here. You should check out the show prior to applying so you aren’t wasting anyone’s time. Your time is valuable.
Write a guest post
This is not something that I have managed to fit in yet but I know plenty of people who have experienced success in guest blogging. There are no big secrets to writing. Write attractive headlines, link to your site, but most importantly write. You can restructure some existing content and submit it to places within your niche that accept guest posts. They can be hard to get into so you may not get accepted. Again, keep trying.
Try out these four things and you will get more exposure for your business. Getting noticed can be hard but continue to be exceptional in what you offer to clients, provide genuine assistance to others without expecting anything in return, and get to know people even your competitors by connecting instead of competing.
The best way to get exposure and clients is through referrals. Referrals come when you are providing a great customer experience and have a strong brand strategy.
If you need some help with your brand, tell me a little about your business and grab your spot on my calendar.
